Welcome back to the Down to Earth PCOS Nutrition Podcast. Today I’m speaking with Elizabeth DeRobertis RDN, CDE, and we are debunking common weight loss myths. There are so many misconceptions that lead people to seek quick-fix solutions that simply don’t work.

Some things we discuss today are how sugar is not enough when you’re looking into the nutritional facts of the foods you are eating. Elizabeth mentions, how important it is to truly look at the calories and see how they fit into your diet, in order to lose weight. 

We discuss what to really look out for on your nutrition label and how not everything you read is what it seems. Such as with Gluten-free items that may be labeled as such, just for marketing purposes to get you to buy, but the fact is that it may never have been something that ever even had gluten, to begin with. We dive deeper into gluten, and you learn the truth about if it should be out of your diet or not and certain facts to factor in.

We also discuss intermittent fasting and a healthy way to deal with carbs throughout your day. Elizabeth also goes over, what to do if you don’t want to give up night time snacking, and what you should be focusing on when choosing your nighttime snack. 

We discuss the myth behind the Blood Type Diet, and how there is absolutely no scientific evidence to back it up, yet people seek gimmicky solutions to help them feel excited, just to be let down. 

 

Additionally, we speak on what to do in terms of  Alcohol. We answer whether you should you leave it out, or find a way to fit it into your diet?

 

Lastly, we discuss why exercising isn’t enough to lose weight. You’ll learn how to deal with the behavior/mindset around feeling like you’ve made a poor nutrition choice. We talk about Elizabeth’s GPS method and getting your health back on track.
